Quick Check 330 Getting Started Guide
The Model 330 Quick Check Detector Tester is designed to test 1 and 2 channel shelf mount; and 2 and 4 channel
rack mount detectors as defined by the NEMA TS1, NEMA TS2, & CalTrans/FHWA published standards. The tester
should help signal and repair technicians troubleshoot a potentially defective detector or to possibly "rule-out" the
detector as the problem when troubleshooting an intermittent problem at an intersection.
Below are some tests that should help the user to exercise the functions of a detector. All tests require the user to
visually verify the detector response.
An annual calibration service is recommended. Contact ATSI directly to arrange for this service.
NOTE: Setting the switch to Delay will enable the Delay feature for that channel. Setting the Extend will enable the Extend feature
for that channel. This switch setting should be tested in conjunction with the detector settings. If you are unsure of the detector
settings, refer to the detector 's operating manual supplied by the manufacturer for assistance.
PRESENCE MODE TESTS
Set SENSITIVITY to MAXIMUM and disable any DELAY and EXTEND capabilities if applicable.
Sustained Presence Check
Press and hold the Lowest Class button that produces a call. Hold button for at least 10 seconds. The
CALL light should stay on as long as the button is pressed.
Sustained Presence Recovery Check
Immediately following a Sustained Presence Check, release the button for 1 second, and then
re-apply. The detector should promptly recognize the new CALL.
Delay Check
Set Delay Time. Press and hold a Class button and watch the CALL light on the detector. It should turn
off or blink for the DELAY time set. When the time has expired, both the detector and tester CALL light
should come on.
Extend Check
Set Extend Time. Press and hold a Class button and watch the CALL light on the detector. When you
release the button the CALL light should blink during the EXTEND time. The CALL light on the tester
should be ON during the time the Class button is pressed AND during the blinking interval of the
Detector's CALL light.
PULSE MODE TESTS
Pulse Check
Press and hold the Lowest Class button that produces a call. The CALL light should come on briefly to
verify PULSE a condition. The CALL light should have an ON-time of 75 to 150 mSec.
Second Vehicle Check
Press and hold the Lowest Class button that produces a call. CONTINUE TO HOLD this button after the
CALL drops. Wait 2 seconds and then press the NEXT HIGHER CLASS button. A second call should be
asserted briefly in response to the added actuation.
If you suspect the tester to be defective, contact ATSI for support and to arrange the return of the unit.
All parts, labor and return shipping are covered during the first 12 months under the Manufacturer Warranty
(conditions on reverse side). The user will be responsible for the shipping charges to return the tester to
the factory for Warranty service work.
