Step 2: Check the Boiler -- The Most Reliable Way

The most reliable way to tell if the boiler can take the PT100M4 screw sensor is to open up the

machine and directly check the boiler.

Tools Needed

Phillips screwdriver and flat-head screw driver.

Remove the water tank, remove the four screws on the top of the Rancilio Silvia, and then remove the

top cover. There are two thermostats on the top of the boiler, each thermostat is held in place by a clip

with two screws on each side. Pick one of the thermostats, use the flat-head screwdriver to loosen the

screws. Be careful not to drop the screws or the clip. Once you can lift the thermostat, you can see the

boiler surface beneath it. The photos in Figure 3 are two examples from our customers.
