Instructions for use
AirTraveler™ Walker
Pneumatic Stirrup Walker
1. Open the Velcro straps, remove the inner shoe of the walker and take out
the hexagonal foam pad. (Figure 1)
2. Place the inner shoe around the leg and fasten it with the Velcro straps.
(Figure 2)
3. To enter the walker safely, spread the medial and lateral splints using both
hands. (Figure 3)
4. After entry, remove the white protective strips on the inside of the splint
and fix the splint to the inner shoe. Now fasten the Velcro straps, starting
with the straps close to the ankle. Ensure that the leg is comfortable in the
walker. (Figure 4)
5. Remove the black pump on the back of the walker.
6. Now pump air through the valve on the back of the walker into the air
chambers of the inner shoe. Use the transparent end of the pump
(Figure 5). The air is distributed evenly. The degree of compression should
ensure that neither the foot nor the ankle can move freely. The inner
shoe of the walker should provide adequate protection for the foot and
ankle.
S hould impaired sensation, swelling or pain occur, the pressure should be
reduced by releasing air from the chambers. Use the black end of the pump
(Figure A). Should persistent pain occur, the treatment should be inter-
rupted and a physician should be consulted.
Optional: Insertion of the foam pad (supplied as an accessory):
The four hexagonal pads (Figure B) are used to immobilise and pad the
ankle, thus allowing individual fitting. Place pads in areas where friction
needs to be reduced or excessive space needs to be filled.
