Operation

Startup Sequence:

•

To begin operation, depress and hold the power button on the front of the DSVII-SC

•

Release the button when a single beep is heard.

•

Two additional beeps acknowledge that power has been activated. The keypad and LCD backlights will turn on.

•

The on-board firmware performs self-tests prior to loading WinCE and the application software.

The DSVII-SC

has internal space for up to two Li-Ion battery packs. Each pack provides

3000mAh of capacity. The unit can be operated with none, one, or two batteries installed.

One battery is standard.

Under normal operating conditions, the battery does not need to be removed. The DSVII-

has an internal charging circuit that can maintain a proper charge on the batteries

whenever the unit is connected to the external power supply.

The batteries may be replaced by opening a battery-access cover on the rear of the DSVII-

. A slotted screwdriver or almost any coin can be used to operate the ¼ turn fasteners

holding the battery compartment cover in place.

When replacing the battery, ensure that the battery contacts are aligned with the battery

terminals inside the unit. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw (do not over-

tighten). Incorrect battery installation will render the unit inoperable until the battery is

properly re-installed.

Note: The charging time for a fully discharged battery will be approximately

2 hours (or 4 hours for two batteries).
