ROOF RACK FITMENT

There are many types of roof racks available,

and many forms of attachment of roof racks

to vehicles. These various combinations will

determine the solution for your situation.

In all cases the awning is attached to the roof

rack via a set of L brackets; with the longer

part of the L bracket attached to the roof rack

and the shorter part of the bracket attached to

the side awning.

The first consideration with the roof rack is the

method by which it is secured to the vehicle.

The Roof Rack may be by attached to the

gutter rail mounting (common in older

vehicles) or to other designated attachment

points. [Fig. 4]

Or to specific attachments points. [Fig. 4A]

Alternatively the roof rack may be secured to

a vehicle side rail [Fig. 5], in which case due

allowance needs to be made for the clamping

mechanism of the roof rack to the side rail. In

this instance use suitably sized T Bolts (refer

page 9),in the upper channel of the roof rack,

[Fig. 6].

This will allow the L bracket to be attached

directly and secured with M6 nyloc nuts.
