Materials Needed:
Coupling Alignment Gage (CA-9001)
Contact points (3)

1. Use the table at right to determine which
contact points should be installed to inspect
the coupling.
IMPORTANT: API Specification 5B Section
5.1.35 requires proper contact points be used
during the inspection of coupling alignment.
2. Rock the gage forward and seat the moveable
contact point into the thread. Use your index
finger to apply just enough pressure to
maintain the gage's contact with the thread
flanks.
