This document describes how to upgrade your Dell™ PowerVault™ 530F system software
from version 1.2x or 1.32 to version 1.35. The system software includes the PowerVault 530F
internal code and any application and customization that Dell performs.
Before You Begin
Before beginning the software upgrade procedure, ensure that you have the following items:
•
PowerVault 530F Recovery CD version 1.35.
•
Two blank, formatted diskettes for each PowerVault 530F to back up the configuration
settings.
•
If possible, connect a keyboard and monitor to the PowerVault 530F when performing
the following procedures.
Backing Up the Configuration Information
Download the file named bnr1_1.exe from the file download library at

http://support.dell.com to the system used to manage the PowerVault 530F.
After downloading the self-extracting bnr1_1.exe file, expand the file contents to a

subdirectory of your choice.
Use the dumpall.exe utility in this directory to create a text file containing the

PowerVault 530F configuration information:
Run the dumpall.exe utility by typing the following syntax:

dumpall nodename filename
where
nodename
file name of your choice. For example, to capture the dumpall.exe output in a file
named pri.txt from a system with a node name of 530F-PRI, type:
dumpall 530f-pri pri.txt
The system creates a file named pri.txt in the same subdirectory as the
dumpall.exe utility.
