17. Install the complete mattress system with side bolsters.
18. Install head and foot boards into rectangular brackets at the
ends of the bed.
19. Hang the scale readout assembly on the foot board and
connect the cable.
FOLDING THE BED FOR TRANSPORT
1. Disconnect the scale display cable, lift the assembly off of the
foot board and set aside.
2. Remove the head and foot boards and set aside.
3. Remove mattress system.
4. Pull the head pullouts to the outward position and lock in place.
Raise the head side rails and lock in place. Push the center and upper foot pullouts to the inward posi-
tion and lock in place. Pull the lower foot pullouts approximately half way between the inner and outer
positions. Rotate the foot side rails to the down or open position. If the bed has fold down foot rails they
must be removed to fold the bed.
5. Raise the head gatch and remove the central transport pole stored under the gatch. Install the trans-
port pole vertically in the center of the bed and pin it in place . Lower the head gatch and foot gatch.
6. Raise the bed hi-low approx. 5 inches to allow the transport wheel assemblies room to pivot down.
7. Remove the pull pin securing the central transport wheel assembly. Pivot each assembly down and
lock in place with the pull pin.
8. CAUTION: Lock the four transport casters to prevent them from allowing the bed to roll away from you
when you lift the head and foot sections. The locked casters should be facing outward and be perpen-
dicular to the centerline of the bed.
9. Press the hi-low "down" button on the pendant to allow the weight of the bed to rest on the transport
casters in the center of the bed.
10. Unplug the AC power cord.
11. Release the black safety strap and remove the Tool.
12. Loosen and completely remove the two turnbuckles with the wrench. Just as in step 9 of unfolding the
bed the Tool can be used as a lever to operate the turnbuckles.
13. Store the Tool in the Velcro holder at the head of bed.
14. Make sure that the black woven safety strap located at the head end of the bed is securing the head
gatch patient support surface to the base.
CAUTION: Read #14 again. Unexpected movement of the patient support surface could occur if the
safety strap is not in place resulting in possible personal injury.
15. Confirm that the locks are set properly on the transport casters.
16. Carefully raise head end and lock to transport pole and secure in place with the transport latch
bracket.
17. Carefully raise foot end and lock to transport pole with the transport latch bracket.
18. Secure the AC power cord to holder.
19. Store the head and foot boards on the bed.
