LDAP
FOS 6.1 includes enhancements to LDAP allowing Active Directory server roles to be mapped to the
various switch roles.
Parameter added for slotshow command
An optional –m parameter has been added for the slotshow command, to display Model Names
for each blade installed in a DC SAN Director or 4/256 SAN Director chassis.
Scripting
Many automatic page breaks in CLI output for commands have been removed to better facilitate
scripting.
Notification of duplicate WWN entry
A RASLOG entry will occur when a switch detects a duplicate WWN has logged in.
Update recommendations
All products supported by Fabric OS 6.0.x can be upgraded to Fabric OS 6.1.0h. If applicable, HP
recommends that users upgrade to Fabric OS 6.1.0h as soon as possible in order to take advantage
of the latest fixes and features.
Upgrading to Fabric OS 6.1.0h is allowed only from Fabric OS 6.0.0b and later. This policy to
support only one-level migration, which began with Fabric OS 6.0.0, provides more reliable and
robust migrations for customers. By having fewer major changes in internal databases, configurations,
and subsystems, the system is able to perform the upgrade more efficiently, taking less time and
ensuring a truly seamless and non-destructive process for the fabric. The new one-release migration
policy also reduces the large number of upgrade/downgrade permutations that must be tested.
Only products based on 4-Gb and 8-Gb-capable ASICs are supported by Fabric OS 6.1.0h. Older
products that use previous-generation 2-Gb ASICs will remain on the 5.x code stream. Fabric OS 5.x
is fully compatible in fabrics running Fabric OS 6.1, as well as for routing.

New hardware support
HP has released the following new 8-Gb SAN Switches with Fabric OS 6.1.0a. Fabric OS 6.1.0h
continues support for these switches:

HP StorageWorks 8/8 SAN Switch (Brocade 300)
•
HP StorageWorks 8/24 SAN Switch (Brocade 300)
•
HP StorageWorks 8/40 SAN Switch (Brocade 5100)
•
HP StorageWorks 8/80 SAN Switch (Brocade 5300)
Also, the HP StorageWorks 4/256 Director running Fabric OS 6.1.0a or later now supports the
following Director blades:
