Easy-to-Handle Controls
Regardless of your skill level or environment, EVOLT E-500 offers a full complement of features
and controls. In fact, with its introduction, it showcases more superior functions and sensible
ergonomics than any digital SLR in its class.

Dual Media Slots – For increased storage flexibility, switch between CF and xD-Picture Cards when
one becomes full. Or use the camera's menu to copy an image onto both, for backup purposes.
Auto Focus – Choose from left, center or right AF points. Activate them automatically or select
them manually. The system's high-precision super-imposed display lets you to confirm target
zones easily. To focus in dim light or darkness, an AF illuminator is built into the flash. Choose
from five focus modes: C-AF, S-AF, MF, S-AF+ MF, C-AF+MF.
White Balance – The exclusive one-touch WB button at the back of EVOLT E-500 helps you
make settings, with ease. Also choose from White Balance and Preset White Balance (for
daylight, cloudy, shade, tungsten, fluorescent and more). Select settings from 2000K to 7500K
– with additional fine-tuning available to each, in seven steps.
Noise Reduction – This function utilizes a proprietary Olympus algorithm to detect and
eliminate fixed noise that can appear on long-exposure images, like a bulb exposure at night.

High-Precision Flash Controls – With seven flash modes, you can be highly selective: Auto,
Red-Eye Reduction, Slow Synchro and Red-Eye Reduction, Slow Synchro first curtain, Slow
Synchro second curtain, forced flash and flash off. Thanks to EVOLT E-500's auto pop-up flash,
there's never any need to lift the flash manually. For daylight fill or flash synchronization above
1/180th second – with available external flashes (FL-36 and FL-50) – choose FP Flash.
