• Cable TV (CATV) outlet and coaxial cable
• Coaxial cable splitter (not included; required only if using the same coaxial cable for both the TV
and the Cisco uBR925 Cable Access Router)
• (Optional) If connecting analog telephone, modem, or fax devices:
Ensure that all telephone, modem, or fax devices are analog devices that use a tone dial set.
Single-line or dual-line devices, as appropriate:
You can connect two single-line telephone, modem, or fax devices to each of the voice ports
on the Cisco uBR925 Cable Access Router using two-wire or four-wire RJ-11 connectors.
You can connect one dual-line (four-wire) telephone, modem, or fax device to the first voice
port on the Cisco uBR925 Cable Access Router using a four-wire RJ-11 connector. When
using a dual-line device on the first voice port, you can plug a single-line device into the second
voice port as an extension to the second line.
If using extensions for telephone, modem, and fax devices, you will need the appropriate
telephone cables (four-wire cable with RJ-11 connectors, not included) and other equipment
required for connecting the devices to the Cisco uBR925 Cable Access Router.
If connecting multiple telephones, modems, or fax devices to a telephone line, be sure that the
sum of the Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) of all devices on any one voice port does not
exceed five. The REN value is a measure of the AC load that the device places on a voice line
and is typically listed on each device. If too many devices are connected on the same line, the
telephones might not ring properly, and you might have difficulty completing telephone calls.
