Note: The SDH187MT does not include a speaker. This install is shown with an
optional SP26158BC. Please refer to your locomotive information for the best
way to attach a speaker to you locomotive motherboard, if there is no existing
speaker.
4.
Inspect the installation before testing the sounds and replacing the shell. In
particular be sure that wires are correctly routed and not pinched between
the shell and frame.
5.
Place the loco on an active DCC track powered by a compatible DCC system
and select the factory default address 03 to enable sounds for testing.
6.
Be sure F8 (mute) is OFF to allow sound output, and then press
F1 (bell) or F2 (whistle/horn) ON to hear the associated sounds.
7.
Customize sounds by programming Sound CVs to adjust the desired con-
figurations, as shown in the following tables of SoundFX CVs. Sound
schemes other than the 2 factory preloaded can be loaded by using a Digitrax
PR3,PR4,DCS52, DCS210+,DCS240 or DCS240+ in conjunction with the
free Digitrax SoundLoader app from the Digitrax Sound Depot.
8. Figure 2 shows a typical US locomotive where the original analog jumper
board has its 21-pin black socket body on the "top" as shown. The decoder
should exactly match this arrangement chosen by the manufacturer. The 21
pins on the host locomotive main board must first enter through the holes
on the green decoder board, and not directly into the black socket. There is a
single index pin skipped to indicate alignment. This 21MTC arrangement is
not symmetric, and must be followed exactly, otherwise decoder damage not
covered by warranty may occur.
