Troubleshooting an HVAC/HVDC Power Supply Unit
The following conditions indicate that you need to troubleshoot an HVAC/HVDC power supply unit:
• The PSU LED on the chassis is amber.
• The Input or Output LED on the power supply unit is not green.
• The Fault LED on the power supply unit is flashing red.
Also, when there are power problems with other modules or the supervisor module PWR MGMT LED is
amber, you need to troubleshoot the power supply unit or check the seating of the modules that are not receiving
power.
For a listing of the power supply unit LEDs and the conditions that they indicate, see
.
To troubleshoot a power supply problem, follow these steps:
SUMMARY STEPS
1. Check to see if the Input and Output LEDs are lit.
2. If the Input LED is not lit, perform each of the following checks on the power cord used for the power
supply unit:
3. If the Output LED is not lit, verify that the power switch is turned on (1).
4. Make sure that the power supply unit is properly seated in the power supply bay.
5. Verify that the power supply unit is functional by replacing it with another power supply and plugging
its power cords into the same power source.
DETAILED STEPS
Step 1
Check to see if the Input and Output LEDs are lit.
Step 2
If the Input LED is not lit, perform each of the following checks on the power cord used for the power supply unit:
• Make sure that the power cord is securely connected to the power source.
• Turn the power supply switch to standby to 0 and then disconnect the power cord from the power source and reconnect
with another power source. After you connect to the power source, turn the power switch on (1).
Step 3
If the Output LED is not lit, verify that the power switch is turned on (1).
Step 4
Make sure that the power supply unit is properly seated in the power supply bay.
