A problem may occur when accessing external serial devices (such as modems)
connected to the Endeavor P60 running Windows for Workgroups 3.11. The system
can lock up if there is data in the UART (Universal Asyncronous Receiver-
Transmitter) chip when a serial communications application attempts to open the
communications port.
Microsoft has an updated SERIAL.386 file that corrects this problem that is available
from the Microsoft Product Support Download Service (MSDL). It is contained in the
self-extracting file WG1001.EXE, which also contains a README.TXT file giving
installation instructions. The MSDL may be reached at (206) 936-6735.
