TROUBLESHOOTING

■ Tuner

Problem

FM stereo

reception is

noisy.

There is

distortion, and

clear reception

cannot be

obtained even

with a good FM

antenna.

The desired

station cannot

be tuned in

automatically.

FM/

"NO PRESET"

is displayed.

The desired

station cannot

be tuned in

automatically.

Automatic

station preset

does not work.

There are

continuous

crackling and

hissing noises.

There are

buzzing and

whining noises.

Cause

The particular characteristics of the FM

stereo broadcasts being received may

cause this problem when the transmitter is

too far away or the antenna input is poor.

There is multipath interference.

The signal is too weak.

No preset stations are registered.

The signal is weak or the antenna

connections are loose.

Automatic station preset is not available

for AM stations.

The noises may result from lightning,

fluorescent lamps, motors, thermostats or

other electrical equipment.
