OPERATION

Refrigerator/Freezer - Starting-up and
Temperature Regulation
Insert the plug into the wall socket.
Open the refrigerator door and turn the thermostat
knob, to be found on the upper right side of the
inner liner, clockwise, beyond the «O» (STOP)
position, to start the appliance.
Temperature adjustment of both refrigerating and
freezer compartments is obtained by turning the
thermostat knob to the required setting. A medium
setting is generally the most suitable.
However, the thermostat knob setting should be
adjusted depending on the temperature required
inside the appliance. This, in turn, depends on a
number of factors such as the ambient temperature,
the number of times the door is opened, the
quantity of food stored and the location of the
appliance.
Turn the knob clockwise, to higher numbers, to
obtain a lower temperature, or anticlockwise if a
higher temperature is required.

Ambient switch

To ensure a regular operation also at low ambient
temperatures this appliance is provided with a
switch located beside the thermostat.
This switch must be switched on when the ambient
temperature is below +16 C (the built-in light will
come on).

Important
If the ambient temperature is high, the thermostat
knob is on the coldest setting (higher numbers) and
the appliance is fully loaded, the compressor may
run continuously, causing frost or ice to form on the
evaporator.
If this happens, turn the knob to a warmer setting
(lower numbers) to allow automatic defrosting and
so a saving in electricity consumption.

Storage of foods in refrigerator compartment

To achieve the best results with the refrigerator
compartment, you should follow some very simple
rules:
Do not put warm foods or evaporating liquids in the
refrigerator;
cover or wrap foods (particularly if they have a
strong smell or contain aromatic herbs).
In addition, food should be positioned inside the
refrigerator compartment as indicated in figure 13
below:
1. Cold cuts, cheese, butter, milk
2. Meat and fish
3. Fruit and vegetables.
In this position, fresh meat can be stored for 1-2 days at
most.

Further hints for getting the best out of your
refrigerator are the following:
Cooked food, cold dishes, jellies etc., should be well
covered.
Fruit and vegetables should be washed before being
stored.
Raw meat (all types, including poultry) should be
stored in plastic bags.
For better use of space, the front half-shelves can
lie over the rear ones.
