DISASSEMBLING
• Insert the dial indicator in the main spark plug's hole of the 1° cylinder (re. 5) and rotate the crankshaft to
the TDC position.
• The notches on the belt and on the sprockets must be aligned (re. 6 and 7).
• Loose the tensioner bolt of the timing belt and then remove the timing belt.
ASSEMBLING
• Using the dial indicator, control that the crankshaft is on the TDC position at 1° cylinder (re. 5).
• Loose the bolt/s of each camshaft sprocket.
• Except for Alfa 147: Remove the cap of the 3° bearing of each camshaft. (re. 11 and 12).
•147: dismount the 2° cap of the induction camshaft bearing and the 3° cap of the outtake camshaft bearing (re
16 and 17).
Note: Before removing the caps, sign their mounting position.
• Replace the caps with the locking tools (re. 11– 12-16-17) .
Note: The lockers must be aligned to the pro les of the camshaft. Before mounting the belt, rotate the camshaft
sprockets clockwise at the endstroke.
• Place the timing belt anti-clockwise, starting from the crankshaft sprocket, following the direction of the arrows.
• The notches on the belt and on the sprocket must be aligned. (re. 6 and 7).
Stretch the timing belt, using the tool (re.13) and tighten the belt tensioner bolt.
• Lock the camshaft sprockets.
•Tighten the bolt/s of each camshaft sprocket:
147: 108-132 Nm.
Bolts M6: 10 Nm
