Using the Microsoft Windows XP Recovery and

Conversion Kit

The Microsoft

Windows

enables you to recover a preinstalled version of the Microsoft Windows XP

Professional x64 Edition or convert your computer from a preinstalled version of the

Microsoft Windows Vista

Edition operating system.

This recovery and conversion kit consists of these user instructions and a set of

DVDs. You use the Product Recovery Startup disc to start the recovery or conversion

procedure.

Note: You must have a DVD drive to use the recovery and conversion kit. If you do

not have an internal DVD drive installed in your computer, you can use an external

USB DVD drive.

Before you begin the recovery or conversion procedure

Before you begin the recovery or conversion procedure, be aware of the following:

v If the Windows Vista operating system is preinstalled on your computer, it is

recommended that you create a set of Windows Vista Product Recovery discs using

the tools provided on your computer in case you want to restore the Windows

Vista operating system on your computer in the future.

To access the tools for creating Windows Vista Product Recovery discs, do the

following:

1. Start the Windows Vista operating system.
