Copy the firmware to the memory card
The firmware can be copied to the camera memory card either by connecting the computer directly to
the Coolpix 2100 using the USB cable, or by removing the memory card from the camera and inserting it
in a CompactFlash card reader.
Direct USB Connection

Turn the camera off and insert the formatted memory card into the Coolpix 2100.

Set the USB option in the camera setup menu to Mass Storage.

Turn the camera off and connect the USB cable as shown below.

Rotate the mode dial to (auto) or (manual) and turn the camera on.
If Nikon View has been installed on the computer, Nikon Transfer will start automatically and
display the message, "There is no selected transfer image in the camera or on the card." Click
OK to exit Nikon Transfer.

Copy the firmware to the memory card.

Copy the firmware to the untitled volume corresponding to the camera.
When the camera is connected and turned on, an untitled volume will appear on the
desktop. Copy the "firmware" folder from the "CP2100fw11" folder to this untitled volume.
Be sure to copy the "firmware" folder and not just the ".bin" file.Copy it to the top directory
of the card, just drag the "firmware" folder to the "NO_NAME" (OS X) or "UNTITLED" (OS (8
or 9) disk.
