FITTING THE AIRCAST
AIRSELECT STANDARD
•
Please ensure you are seated when fitting the AirSelect Standard.
•
For comfort and hygiene, we recommend you use a cotton or cast sock
(not provided)
1. Prepare Walker Boot:
•
Check aircells are deflated
(See Step 1 of 'Removing the Aircast AirSelect Standard').
•
Unfasten straps, remove front panel and open liner.
2. Position heel against back of the boot, then wrap liner around
the foot and leg.
3. Replace front panel. Position so that:
•
Aircast logo is over the toes.
•
Upper part of front panel is secured to the liner.
C
4. Secure straps from bottom to top (A, B & C).
B
Tighten until the boot feels snug and comfortable.
A
5. Adjust Aircell compression:
Begin inflation on injured side first. Turn the selector dial located on
right-side of the boot to the appropriate number
•
Number 1 inflates right-side aircell.
•
Number 2 inflates left-side aircell.
6. To inflate aircell, press and slowly release LARGE inflation pump
located on top right-side of boot.
•
Ensure you cover the tiny hole with your finger when pressing the pump.
•
Pump until aircell feels snug but comfortable.
•
Repeat process to inflate other aircell.
•
In the event of over-inflation, deflate aircells
(see instructions on next page).
•
Once both aircells are inflated, turn selector dial to
"lock" position. This prevents accidental deflation.
REMOVING THE AIRCAST
AIRSELECT STANDARD
•
Deflate aircells before removing boot for proper fit when reapplying.
1. To deflate aircell Number 1, turn the selector dial to Number 1.
Press and hold finger on SMALL release button located on top right-
side of boot. Deflate until pressure is comfortable.
2. Repeat deflation process for aircell 2, by turning selector dial to
appropriate number.
3. Undo the 3 straps (the order is unimportant).
4. Remove front panel and open liner, before removing leg from the boot.
PRECAUTIONS
•
Do not over-inflate aircells.
•
Check your skin frequently for "hot spots" and skin irritation. If you see
any skin changes or feelings of discomfort, reduce the aircell compression.
•
Consult a medical professional if you are concerned about any symptoms.
•
Do not use the boot if you cannot feel sensations, whether due to
post-op anaesthesia, nerve, skin or other conditions.
NOTES
•
Higher pressure provides more support when walking, lower pressure is
more comfortable when sitting or reclining. Pressure can also be
adjusted by tightening or loosening the straps.
•
If on an airline flight, deflate cells and loosen straps.
•
Use caution when walking on slippery or wet
surfaces to avoid injury.
