Stage 1: Show Me Stage

Show your dog the desired behavior. Do not put the Border Patrol collar

unit on your dog in this stage.

1. Walk your dog on a leash in the "Safe" Zone. Your dog will NOT be

wearing the Border Patrol unit in this stage.

2. Calmly and purposefully walk your dog towards the boundary.

3. At the point your dog reaches the boundary, give a swift pull on the leash,

downward and away from the boundary.

4. Lead your dog away from the boundary and give praise (treats optional)

while being led away from the boundary.

5. Repeat this process several times at different boundary points.

6. Train in the Show Me Stage until your dog shows signs of pausing at the

boundary. It generally takes 1-3 consecutive days of training, at least 3

times a day to complete the Show Me Stage.
