REGISTRATION
As the owner of this 406 MHz Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB), you are required by law to register
your beacon with the EPIRB National Authority of your country — and update that registration every two years. To find
your country's national authority visit www.acrartex.com/support/registrations.
** Note that the beacon must be reprogrammed and the registration updated if you, as the owner, move and the vessel
is now registered under the flag of a different country.
Registration is critical because, when activated, all 406 MHz beacons transmit a Unique Identifier Number
(UIN) based on the country in which the beacon is registered (Note that the UIN is sometimes called the
Beacon 15 Hex ID.). The unique ID code programmed inside each EPIRB is transmitted to Search and Rescue
(SAR) and proper registration allows Search and Rescue (SAR) forces to know who you are, the name and type of your
vessel, your homeport, and who to contact in an emergency. Registration also helps to quickly resolve false alarms.
YOUR RESCUE MAY BE DELAYED IF YOUR BEACON IS NOT PROPERLY REGISTERED! It is important to make sure that
registration details are kept up to date and that the authority is advised of change of ownership or disposal of your
EPIRB.
