Maintenance guide
1. The necessity of an oil management
1-1) oil function : lubrication, sealing, cooling
1-2) the necessity of an oil management
Oil will be 99% collected through an exhaust
filter, however some will be evaporated. Oil is
naturally consumable because of a heat
produced by compressing from inhale, expansion,
compression, exhaust(4 step processes).
Therefore, oil is subjected to be managed
periodically.
1-3) The problems by a careless oil management
- Lower the degree of a vacuum
- The damage of a vane
- The damage of cylinder inside.
2. The recommended oil upon vacuum pump types.
- Use VG type oil decided by ISO
Temperature
Oil standard
0~12℃
ISO VG#68
12~30℃
ISO VG#100
3. Oil exchange period
- After every 500 hours operation
- every 3 months
- when the color or viscosity are changed
- (foreign substances inflow)
4. The method of oil inspection
Inspect and manage through an oil inlet in a oil
container.
Each part's name of oil inlet.
4-1) Inspect oil volume
- Always keep the oil volume up to "MAX" line on
an oil gauge.
- If the oil volume is more than "MAX" line
: foreign substance(water) inflow
- If the oil volume is less than "MAX" line
: It indicates the loss of oil, therefore study a cause.
The causes of a loss of oil
① Oil exchange period overdue
② Exhaust loss through an exhaust pipe
③ Oil leak

4-2) Inspect oil status (color)
The oil is glossy and reddish brown color.
The oil status can be estimated by color changing.
① In case of turning into a milky color than a
standard color
- The indication that steam or fraction has
been flowed in.
② In case of turning into a black color than a
standard color
- The indication that the oil has been oxidized.
The oil is needed to be changed when the above
cases happen.
※ The milky bubble when operating the vacuum
pump is normal.
Please check the oil inspection before operating
the vacuum pump.
5. Oil exchange method
5-1) Regular exchange method
① Open the inlet port and operate the vacuum
pump for 30 seconds.
② Cut the vacuum pump's power.
③ Open an oil outlet stopper discharging the oil
and close it.
④ Open an oil inlet filling the oil in and close the
stopper.
Filling up to "MAX" line of an oil
gauge.
⑤ Check the degree of a vacuum and the oil
status while operating 5~10 minutes as closing
the inlet port.
⑥ If the oil color or the degree of a vacuum are
not normal, repeat the above step 3~4 times.
Because of the case where the malfunction happens
as mixing the contaminated oil being left in a pipe
or inside of a pump and new oil.
5-2) The oil needs to be exchanged because the
oil is coagulated or moisture inflow and
vacuum pump malfunction take place.
① Repeat the above oil exchange methods 3~4
times.
② Lastly, exchange the oil filter together when
exchanging the oil.
