FACE DETECTION SELF-TIMER*
This advanced feature lets you join your group
picture while maintaining precise exposure and
focus. The Face Detection Self-Timer "counts"
faces in your scene. When it detects an additional
face, focus and exposure is automatically reset
and the self-timer begins counting down.
BLINK DETECTION
Blink Detection lets you know right away whether
one of your subjects blinked. If closed eyes
are detected, a "blink warning" icon appears
for 3 seconds so you can re-shoot while your
subject or group of subjects is still in place.
MULTI-POINT AiAF*
Canon's wide-area AiAF automatically selects one
or more focusing points based on the position
of the subject within the frame. This allows you
to quickly and accurately focus your shot under
a wide variety of shooting conditions, even
when the subject is not centered.

FLEXIZONE AF/AE*
Using FlexiZone AF/AE, you can freely move a
single AF point around the frame. This lets you
easily focus on off-center subjects without
reframing the shot. When spot metering is
selected, you can measure exposure at the
chosen AF point or at the center of the frame.
With this information, you can handle difficult
lighting situations like a pro.

AF POINT ZOOM*
Turn on the AF Point Zoom feature to see an
enlargement of the focus position when you
press the shutter halfway for focus (when Face
Detect AF or one-point AF is in use). This feature
makes it easy to capture the perfect facial
expression of your subject, or check for precise
focus in macro shots.
AF FRAME SIZE MODIFICATION*
AF Frame Size Modification lets you reduce the
size of a single AF point, for even more precise
focus. Some models also allow the nine-point
AiAF cluster to be reduced in size, and moved
freely around most of the picture area, as
shown below.

SAFETY SHIFT & SAFETY FE*
In Av and Tv modes, a Safety Shift function is
available to eliminate exposure errors: the camera
will automatically change shutter speed or
aperture to achieve proper exposure for the
given brightness conditions. Safety FE makes
automatic adjustments to prevent over- or
under-exposed flash shots when shooting in
manual mode.
SAFETY MF (MANUAL FOCUS)*
After focusing the camera in manual focus
mode, simply depress the shutter button
halfway and the camera will automatically
perform a fine adjustment for perfect focus.
Safety MF can also be disabled for complete
manual control.
EXPOSURE METERING
Advanced photographers can select one of
three light-metering modes: evaluative metering,
center-weighted average metering, or spot
metering. With some models, spot metering
can also be linked to the AF point, and moved
around the picture area.

EXPOSURE COMPENSATION &
FLASH EXPOSURE COMPENSATION*
With Exposure Compensation and Flash
Exposure Compensation, you can adjust the
exposure and/or flash output above or below
the level the camera automatically selects by
up to ±2.0 stops in 1/3-stop increments. This
is particularly useful for shooting situations
that are difficult for the camera's automated
sensors to meter correctly, such as subjects
that are unusually light or dark in color.
MANUALLY ADJUSTABLE FLASH*
PowerShot cameras allow you to manually change
the flash strength to perfectly suit your needs.
Set the flash strength to one of 3 levels — weak,
medium or strong.

ISO SETTING
Canon's advanced DIGIC Image Processor
enables a range of ISO equivalent settings from
80 to 1600, achieving excellent image quality
under darker conditions without a flash. With
camera shake greatly reduced, you can shoot
high quality images in many more situations.
On the PowerShot G10, ISO settings are quickly
accessible from a dedicated control dial.
HIGH ISO AUTO*
High ISO Auto allows the camera to select a
wide range of ISO settings automatically,
depending on the subject and scene. With
Canon's latest Motion Detection Technology,
it's even more advanced – it also factors in
camera or subject movement when setting
ISO automatically.
AUTO ISO SHIFT*
While sensitivity should in general be kept as
low as possible for maximum image quality, too
low a setting can cause camera shake and blurry
photos. PowerShot cameras with Auto ISO Shift
instantly maximize sensitivity for the given
light, either automatically or at the push of a
button. It minimizes camera shake, without the
need to change the setting manually. The feature
keeps you in creative control, allowing you to
specify parameters for an ISO shift, or be notified
when sensitivity is adjusted automatically.
RED-EYE CORRECTION
New technology combines with Face Detection
to allow select PowerShot cameras to detect
and remove red-eye, as images are played
back on the LCD monitor. Some models even
can detect and remove red-eye as photographs
are
taken*.
