Setting up the Motor Drive
4.2 Optimize the motor parameters
It is recommended to optimize some motor parameters to get the best
movement of your lens for your needs.
4.2.1 Optimize the Torque Parameter
The torque parameter is used by the motor to find the boundaries of the lens
movement. If the Parameter is set to high, it is possible that the motor does
not stop at the end of the lens moving range and starts to turn the whole lens,
or the gears starts to overrun. On the other side if the parameter is set to low,
it is possible, that the motor stop to early during the initialization run.
In this case the full range of the lens can not be used.
The parameter is different for each lens. This optimization must be done by try
and error. A good start value is around 50.
The torque parameter can be set in the ProVideo Gui, in the lens drive tab. For
this purpose, the advanced lens setup must be enabled.
The stall detection is turned off after initializing. Make sure that the lens is not
blocked during a movement. In this case, the boundaries are shifted, and the
motor needs a new initialization.
4.2.2 Set the Iris F-Stop Table
For using the aperture positioning, the camera needs to know where exactly
the F-Stops are. The Table with this information can be set in the ProVideo GUI.
