3M™ Drive-Thru Headset Model XT-1 & G5
Technical Bulletin # 166
Identifying XT-1 and G5 Headset Serial Number
Overview:
The XT-1 headsets have a single serial number which is imprinted on the headset. G5 headsets have 2 serial numbers - one on the G5 Control
Pod and the other on the G5 Carrier. The G5 Battery has unique serial number as well.
The G5 Control Pod serial number is the primary tracking number for the G5 headset and this is the serial number that gets registered on the
basestation. Once a Pod has been registered, it should not require re-registration unless it is intentionally unregistered from the basestation.
Below are examples of the serial numbers:
XT-1 Headset --- 1HUB065280
G5 Control Pod --- 2P1B609509
G5 Carrier
--- 2C1B639906
G5 Battery
--- 2L2K054205
The first 4 characters highlighted above in red pertain to the headset/component's product generation and the last 6 characters/digits represent
it's unique serial number. You can identify these serial numbers by:
• Removing the G5 pod from the G5 Carrier and inspecting each component
• Removing the Ear Cup from the XT-1 headset.
Another method to identify the XT-1 headset's or the G5 Control Pod's serial number without having to disassemble the headset is through the
the Basestation's Headset Setup Menu. This document describes both methods.
1. Identifying Headset serial number WITHOUT disassembling the G5 or XT-1 headset:
• Go into the Run mode menu
• Enter your user passcode (The default user passcode is 1234)
• Press Mode once to get to System Menu
• The display will show the user name and ID number (e.g., User1 ID = 1)
• Now press Mode 2 times to get to System Menu
• Select 08 Headset Setup. Then press ENTER
• Pay attention to the Serial Number displayed to the right of Currently Editing Headset field
• Conduct a Page with the operational XT-1 or G5 headset on hand
• The Headset Selection field will jump to the headset that is currently paging, which is the headset in your hand
• Read the serial number off this field
NOTE: This field will only display the last 7 digits of the Headset's (or G5 Control Pod's) serial number.
If you need the first 4 digits as well (explained in the overview section above), you will have to disassemble the headset.
