Activating component or progressive scan connections
With the LIFESTYLE
®
media center turned off, use the front panel controls and follow these
steps:
1. Press and hold the Enter button on the media center.
2. While holding the Enter button down, press the Store button.
• Selections will appear on the media center display each time you press Store.
• Move down using the Volume down button on the media center console.

The system is now ready to deliver the DVD video signal you prefer.
If your TV, VCR, tape deck, or AUX component has the proper output jacks, you can
make a digital audio connection to the media center (Figure 30). However, be sure to also
connect the analog L and R stereo outputs from the component to the media center for each
digital device. This is a good way to ensure uninterrupted audio.

Use one of two means

• For a coaxial connection, use a 75
• For an optical connection, insert an optical digital cable (with a square connector) into the
Optical IN on the media center rear panel. Use the Optical OUT jacks on the media center
rear panel if you plan to make a digital recording from that component.
Before you can listen to a source through the OPTICAL input, you need to assign the
OPTICAL connection to that source: TV, VCR, CBL/SAT, or AUX. See your Operating Guide
for instructions on using the system menus.
