Instructions for Use
1. Wipe excess moisture and earwax from your hearing aids
before placing them in the drying chamber. Open the lid
and place your hearing instruments or implant hardware
in the large compartment on the right. You may leave the
batteries in, but open the battery cover to allow for air
circulation.
2. Close the lid and gently press the
start button, which is on the front
of the unit
. A green glow,
(Figure 5)
visible behind the start button, will
be present for the entire drying
cycle, which is approximately 8
hours. Best results come from a complete 8-hour cycle,
but periods as short as 30 minutes will be benefi cial. All
operations cease when the lid is opened, which resets the
timer.
If your unit has a UV-C lamp, a blue light will be visible
on the top of the unit for 1½ minutes after the unit is
started, indicating that the sanitizing cycle is operating.

It is important that the Dry-Brik be replaced two months
from the date of activation in order to ensure the highest
level of care for your hearing instruments. Deposit the
depleted Dry-Brik in household refuse.
About the UV-C Sanitizing Cycle*
Ear molds and hearing instruments may harbor bacteria.
Some models include a UV-C lamp that reduces bacteria. The
sanitizing effect is strongest close to the lamp and decreases
with distance. It is not designed to diagnose, prevent, monitor,
treat, or alleviate disease. The UV-C lamp may be removed
without affecting the drying capability, as it is not part of the
heating cycle.
Use with Implant Equipment
Implant hardware must be kept dry to function properly,
and regular use of this appliance can eliminate moisture that
accumulates from the environment and/or perspiration. Some
users may notice an improvement in zinc-air battery life,
especially in hot and humid weather. Individual results will
vary. Here are some specifi c suggestions:
•
Behind-the-ear speech processors: Leave zinc-air
batteries in the processor (where applicable) but remove
the battery cover. Place the processor, headpiece and
cable in the drying compartment on the right. Do not put
anything except the desiccant on the left side of the tray.

Body-worn speech processors: Place as many components
in the drying compartment as will comfortably fi t
without crowding, in order to allow unimpeded air fl ow.
Size limitations might mean that the processor will
need to be maintained separately from other hardware.
If this is the case, the microphone assembly should be
maintained more frequently than the processor, as it is
more susceptible to moisture damage. The battery pack
may need to be removed from some processors, if the
combined size is too large for the drying compartment.
Some models do not contain a UV-C lamp. If this applies to your appliance, disregard any instruction or comment that refers to "UV-C," "blue light," "ultraviolet,"
or "lamp."

General Product Care
For best results, do not operate this appliance in high-
humidity locations such as a bathroom. Keep the lid closed
at all times, because the effectiveness of the desiccant will be
reduced due to moisture adsorption from the surrounding air.
Clean with a soft cloth. Never use strong cleaning agents or
abrasives. Do not spray any liquid into the tray or onto the
UV-C lamp.
Troubleshooting Problems
•
No lights illuminate after pressing the start button: Is the
lid closed tightly and has the start button been pushed?
If yes, verify that the AC adapter is securely connected
to both the appliance and the outlet/mains and that the
outlet/mains is not controlled by a wall switch which
is in the off position. Next, try another AC adapter
(available from the place of purchase, a service center,
or at www.dryandstore.com). Replace it only with an
adapter provided by the manufacturer. If the unit still
will not start, the internal electronics may be faulty, so
return it to the place of purchase or service center for
evaluation.
•
Unit is noisy: Noise problems are usually fan-related.
Sound resonates inside the unit, so some noise is to be
expected, even from the high-quality ball-bearing fan
used in this product. If the fan noise varies in intensity or
frequency, disconnect the unit from power and check for
obstructions. If none, have the unit serviced.
•
Unit is not drying properly: Has the Dry-Brik been
replaced regularly? It is important that it be replaced
every two months according to the instructions. Check
for fan movement. If no fan sound can be heard, return
the unit to the place of purchase or service center for
evaluation.
•
For units that include a UV-C lamp, the blue light is not
visible during fi rst 1½ minutes of the operating cycle,
but the green light is on: Check that the UV-C lamp
is fi rmly positioned in its sockets. If not, remove and
reposition the lamp, then re-start the unit with the lid
closed tightly. If the blue light does not illuminate during
the fi rst 1½ minutes, replace the UV-C lamp (available
from the place of purchase, a service center, or at www.
dryandstore.com). Replace it only with the special lamp
provided by the manufacturer. If both blue and green
lights fail to light, see "No lights illuminate..." above.
•
Metal bead inside UV-C lamp: Depending on the lamp
manufacturer, some lamps have a metal bead inside the
tube, and this is perfectly normal. It is a result of an
environmentally-sensitive manufacturing process that
minimizes airborne pollutants.
