Explanation of the Symbols and Signal Words

Danger symbols: This symbol indicates dangers of injury.

Read through the associated safety instructions carefully

Intended Use

•

These articles are used for decoration.

•

The articles are designed for personal domestic use only and

are not intended for commercial applications. The articles

should only be used as described in these instructions. Any

other use is deemed to be improper.

•

The following are excluded from the warranty: all defects

caused by improper handling, damage or unauthorised at-

tempts at repair. This also applies to normal wear and tear.

Safety Instructions

The articles are not a toy. Do not leave children and animals

unsupervised with the articles in order to avoid injuries!

■

WARNING – Danger of Suffocation! Keep the packaging

material away from children and animals.

■

WARNING – Danger of Burns from Battery Acid! Batteries

can be deadly if swallowed. Therefore keep batteries and the

article out of the reach of children and animals. If a battery is

swallowed, seek medical assistance immediately.

■

CAUTION – Danger of Burns from Battery Acid! If a battery

leaks, avoid physical contact with the battery acid. Wear pro-

tective gloves. If you touch battery acid, rinse the affected area

with abundant fresh water immediately and contact a doctor as

soon as possible.

NOTE – Risk of Damage to Material and Property

Before inserting the batteries, check whether the contacts in

the articles and on the batteries are clean, and clean them if

necessary.

■

Use only the battery types speciﬁ ed in the technical data.

■

Always replace all batteries together. Do not use batteries of

different types or brands, or batteries with different capacities.

When replacing batteries, ensure the correct polarity (+ / –).

■

Take the batteries out of the articles when they are dead or if

the articles are not going to be used for some time. This will

prevent any damage if a battery leaks.

■

The batteries must not be recharged or reactivated by other

means, dismantled, thrown into a ﬁ re, immersed in ﬂ uids, or

short-circuited.

■

Protect the articles from: heat, naked ﬂ ames, strong tempera-

ture ﬂ uctuations, direct sunlight, moisture and wet conditions

as well as collisions.

Caution! The batteries were secured with protective ﬁ lms for trans-

portation purposes. Remove the ﬁ lms before inserting the batter-

ies.

Putting into Operation

1. Check the items supplied for completeness and possible trans-

port damage. If you should ﬁ nd any transport damage, do not

use the articles(!), but contact the customer service depart-

ment.

2. Open the battery compartment on the bottom of a candle:

Press the locking catch on the battery compartment cover and

remove it.

3. Insert batteries. You require 2 x 1.5 V batteries, AA type for the

large candles. 1 x 3 V is required for each of the small candles.

Ensure the correct polarity (+ / –).

4. Insert the battery compartment cover and ﬂ ip it shut. It must

click audibly into place.

5. Slide the switch on the bottom of a candle to the ON1 or Color

or ON2 or Flicker position to switch it on. In the ON1 or Color

position, the candle lights up in different colours. In the ON2

or Flicker position, the candle lights up in a warm white colour

and ﬂ ickers.

In both positions, a 5-hour timer is activated automatically. The

candle switches off automatically after 5 hours and then back on

again after another 17 hours (24-hour mode). The candle can

be switched back on again at any time by sliding the switch to

the OFF position once and then back to ON1 or Color or ON2

or Flicker.

6. To switch off a candle, slide the switch to the OFF position.

If the performance of the candles diminishes, the batteries should

be replaced.

Cleaning and Storage

•

To clean the articles, dust them with a soft, dry cloth. More

intense soiling can be wiped off with a damp cloth.

•

Keep the articles out of the reach of children and animals in a

dry place that is protected from direct sunlight when they are

not being used.

Disposal

Dispose of the packaging in an environmentally friendly

manner and take it to a recycling centre.

Dispose of the articles in an environmentally friendly man-

ner at a recycling centre for used electrical and electronic

devices. More information is available from your local au-

thorities.

Batteries should be removed before the articles are dis-

posed of and should be disposed of separately from the

articles. To protect the environment, non-rechargeable and

rechargeable batteries must not be disposed of with normal

household waste, but must be taken to suitable collection

points. Note the relevant statutory regulations governing the

disposal of batteries!
