Fireplace Preparation
Before installation, the
damper must be secured
open to the proper size.
Refer to the chart on page 5
for additional information.
The fireplace must be
prepared before installation:
A. Turn off the gas supply
to the fireplace.
B. Clean the fireplace
floor and chimney (if used)
of any ashes, soot,
creosote, or obstruction.
This will minimize any smell
from the fireplace. We
recommend cleaning by a
chimney sweep.
WARNING: Before
installing in a solid fuel
burning firebox, the
chimney flue and firebox
must be cleaned of soot,
creosote, ashes and loose
paint by a qualified
chimney cleaner.
WARNING: Outside air
ducts, and/or ash dumps
in the fireplace must be
permanently closed at the
time of appliance
installation.
Decorative Glowing Ember Placement
The Glow Ember Pad is pre-assembled and needs no adjusting or
added materials to glow. Pad should be secure and in place before
operating.
Warning: This appliance is equipped for
(natural or propane) gas. Field conversion is
not permitted.
WARNING: Do not
allow fans to blow directly
into the fireplace. Avoid
any drafts that alter burner
flame patterns.
WARNING: Do not use
a blower insert, heat
exchanger insert, or other
accessory not approved
with this heater.
Positioning Logs
Carefully position logs as
shown: Position Log #2
between front grate and
main burners. Then position
Log #1 on rear supporters,
pushing back as far as
possible and into notches.
Then place Log #3 around
the left grate bar. Place Log
#4 on Log #2 and frame as
shown. Then place Logs #5
and #6 onto the pins of Logs
#1 and #2, setting them into
their notches. Make sure
that no log can be moved
easily from side to side.
ENSURE THAT ALL LOGS
ARE CENTRAL AND
VERTICAL AS SEEN FROM
THE SIDE. THERE
SHOULD BE SOME
IMPINGEMENT OF
FLAMES FROM THE
BURNER. IF THE LOGS
BECOME BLACKENED
DURING USE, TURN UNIT
OFF AND CLEAN WITH A
DAMP CLOTH OR A SOFT
