Thank you for purchasing a high-quality ADE product. Your new scales feature tried-and-tested
quality and meet the highest technical standards.
Please read these Operating Instructions carefully before using the product for the first time, and
keep them in a safe place so that you can consult them again if you need further information.

1. First use

Insert ing the batt eries:
Open the lids of the battery compartments on the underside of the scales and on the reverse side of
the portable display. Insert the supplied batteries (2 x 1.5V AAA for scales and 3 x 1.5V AAA for
display). Please ensure correct polarity of the batteries (+/-).

Safety guidelines:

Please take care not to drop objects onto the scales or the portable
display; otherwise, they may be damaged.
Use only a damp cloth to clean the scales and the display. Never use
solvents or abrasive cleaning agents. Do not immerse in water. If the
scales' plastic parts come in contact with grease, spices, vinegar or any
other strongly spiced or coloured foods, they must be cleaned
immediately. Keep citric acid away from the scales.

2. Operation

After you have inserted the batteries into the portable display, the time will appear in the display's
top half and the room temperature in the bottom half.
Changing units of weight:
In time display mode, press the S/S MODE button at the bottom of the display for approx. 3
seconds to change the unit of weight. "Unit" appears on the display and the currently set unit of
weight "g" or "lb:oz" flashes. By pressing the SEC-▲ or the MIN-▼ button you can change the units
of weight (g <-> lb: oz). Please ensure that the scales are configured to show the unit of weight that
you normally use.
Changing the temperature display °C / °F
In time display mode, press the S/S MODE button at the bottom of the display for approx. 3
seconds to change the temperature display. "Unit" appears on the display and the currently set unit
of temperature "°C" or "°F" flashes. Now press the S/S MODE button again. The temperature
display symbol and a small thermometer flash. By pressing the SEC-▲ or the MIN-▼ button you
can change the temperature display (°C <-> °F).
Sett ing the clock:
To set the time press the S/S MODE button for approx. 3 seconds and then the S/S MODE button
again twice, until 24 h or 12 h flashes in the top half of the display. Press the SEC-▲ or the MIN-▼
button to set the desired display mode and then press the S/S MODE button again. Now the hour
indicator flashes. Press the SEC-▲ or the MIN-▼ button to set the desired hour. Press the S/S
MODE button again and the minute display flashes. Press the SEC-▲ or the MIN-▼ button to make

the desired minute setting. To confirm, press the S/S MODE button. Setting the clock is now
completed.
Timer (up to 99 min. 59 sec.)
Counting forward (stop watch function):
In time display mode, briefly press the S/S MODE button twice to activate the timing (stop watch).
Press the S/S MODE button again to pause or restart. By pressing the SEC-▲ and the MIN- button
simultaneously when stopped, the stop watch can be reset to 00:00. By pressing the S/S MODE
button for approx. 3 seconds you can return to time display mode.
Counting backward (timer function):
In time display mode, briefly press the S/S MODE button to activate the timer. Press the SEC-▲ or
the MIN- button to set the desired alarm time (fast forward by holding the button). After setting your
chosen alarm time, touch the S/S MODE button again to confirm. The timer begins to count down
and will sound a loud beep for approx. 60 seconds when reaching zero. Stop the beep by touching
any button. When the timer is running, it can be stopped and/or restarted at any time by touching the
S/S MODE button. By pressing the SEC-▲ and the MIN-▼ button simultaneously when stopped, the
timer can be reset to 00:00. By pressing the S/S MODE button for approx. 3 seconds you can return
to time display mode.
Note: If no other action is carried out within 30 seconds after the timer- or the stop watch function
has started, the backlighting switches off, but the timer- or the stop watch function remains active.
Weighing:
Place the scales on a firm and level surface. After pressing the
platform for approx. 2 seconds, the button lights up and the scales switch on automatically. Once the
scales are stabilised the portable display will show either "0 g" or "0: 00 lb oz", depending on setting.
The scales are now ready for use.
Note: If a weight is shown on the display after activation, touch the
scales to zero.
Tare weight function:
Touching the
-TARE button will set the scales to "0 g". Place e.g. a bowl on the weighing platform,
and touch the
-TARE button to set the scales back to "0 g" (display shows TARE). You can repeat
this procedure as often as you like until you reach the scales' max. load capacity (5 kg). Once you
remove your weighed item(s), the total weight is shown as a minus value.
Automatic switch-off of the scales:
If no weight change is registered for about 30 seconds, the scales will switch off automatically and
return to time-/ temperature display mode.

3. Error messages

"Lo"
=
Battery is empty – Please replace the batteries with the appropriate battery
type (5 x 1.5V AAA).
"0L"
=
Overload – The 5 kg maximum load capacity has been exceeded. Remove
the object from the scales immediately to avoid damaging the scales' load
cell.
