Part 1 – What is a Data Single? 
A Data Single is a single hard disk drive volume attached to the RocketRAID eSATA 
6G series controller. The data single hard disk drive will appear as a Legacy hard 
drive and will be immediately available for access (Read/Write) activity if the hard 
drive has a partition and is formatted.  
Note: Any new hard drive (un‐partitioned / un‐formatted) connected to the 
RocketRAID eSATA 6G series controller will need to utilize the Mac OS X Disk Utility 
to partition and format the newly added hard drive.
