kick-back when striking a solid

Cable Lock / Extension Cable

Loop the extension cable and
insert it into the cable lock (7).
This prevents unintentional
separation of the electric con-
nection. Then connect it to the
mains cable.
6. Maintenance, service, storage
Repairs may only be carried
out by GARDENA Service
Centres or dealers authorised
by GARDENA.
Attention : Before any

repair, check and mainte-
nance jobs, always disconnect
the Hedge Trimmer.
The Hedge Trimmer blades
should be cleaned after each
use and lubricated with an oil
of low viscosity (e.g. spray-oil).

For safe storage and transport
as well as to protect the blades,
use the blade cover.
Store the Hedge Trimmer in a dry
place where it is protected from
7. Advice for proper use / Safety instructions
Checks before

Inspect the unit before each
use. Do not use the Hedge
Trimmer, if safety devices (two-
hand switch, blade stop, hand
guard, impact protection)
and / or the blades are damaged
or worn. Never bypass safety
devices.
Inspect the area to be cut be-
fore and during work. Remove
any foreign objects.

Safety Clutch
(Slipping Clutch)
The safety clutch protects motor
and gear from mechanical da-
mage caused by jammed blades.
If the blades are jammed by a
solid object, disconnect the trim-
mer from the mains and remove
the object.
The safety devices in-

the manufacturer must not
frost. Take care, that it is stored
out of the reach of children.
Warning: The safety

slipping clutch has a high-
tension, preloaded spring and
must not be dismantled.
Damaged blades must be

properly repaired without
delay.
If you have any problem with your
Hedge Trimmer, please contact
our Customer Service or return
the defective unit together with
a short description of the problem
and, in case of guarantee, with
the warranty card duly completed
and signed, directly to one of
the GARDENA Service Centres
listed on the back of this leaflet.
If, in spite of care, there is
an obstruction when cutting,
turn off the Hedge Trimmer
and remove it.

Use / Responsibility
This Hedge Trimmer can cause
serious injuries!
Use the unit only for the pur-
poses specified in these oper-
ating instructions.
Do not overload the Hedge
Trimmer – to work better and
be removed or bypassed, e.g.
by tieing a switch down to the
handle.
Never use an incomplete
machine or a machine with
inadmissable change of
design.
To avoid unintentional start,
never carry the Hedge Trimmer
at its button switches (3).
We expressly point out that,
in accordance with the product
liability law, we are not liable
for any damage caused by our
units if it is due to improper
repair or if parts exchanged are
not original GARDENA parts
or parts approved by us, and
if the repairs were not carried
out by a GARDENA Service
Centre or an authorised spe-
cialist. The same applies to
spare parts and accessories.
