Gardena 1254 Operator's Manual
General assembly instructions:
v Grease all O­rings and metal securing clips
before assembly! Push an O­ring over each end
of the telescopic pipe
Install the Valve Box [ Fig. A1 ]:

1. Install the Valve Box
approx. 20 cm x 30 cm x 10 cm (V1) /
30 cm x 35 cm x 10 cm (V3).
This ensures proper drainage of the box.
2. Install the valve box with the top edge of the box at
ground level.
This avoids damage when mowing the lawn.
When installing the Valve Box, the lid must be
closed. The adjacent earth may only be carefully
compacted to prevent the walls getting pressed
in and the lid from then no longer closing com­
pletely.
If necessary, support walls from inside
with spacers when compacting earth.
Connect GARDENA connecting pipes to valve box
[ Fig. A2 ]:
Only for Valve Box V3:

The distributor
has 3 inputs. The Valve Box can there-
fore be connected to the watering system in various ways.

1. Screw cover caps
onto the unused inputs.

2. Insert the distributor
outside and secure to the Valve Box from the inside

using the two nuts

3. Screw the drain cap
For Valve Box V1 and V3:
v Push the connections

The GARDENA Connecting Pipes 25 mm Art. 2700 /
2701 and 32 mm Art. 2704 / 2705 can be connected
using the GARDENA Connectors 25 mm Art. 2762
and 32 mm Art. 2768.
V3: Connect 2 Valve Boxes V3 [ Fig. A3 ]:
Via the 1"x1"-Connector Art. 2758­00.900.01,
2 Valve Boxes V3 can be connected.
v Screw the 1"x1"-Connector
outputs of the two Valve Boxes V3.
V3: Close open distributor output [ Fig. A4 ]:
If you are only installing 2 valves in a Valve Box V3, the
open distributor output must be sealed with an end cap.

Connecting Watering Valves 24 V (Art. 1278)
[ Fig. A6 / A7 ]:
You can connect up to 12 Watering Valves Art. 1278
(24 V) to the Watering Controller 4040 Art. 1276 using
the Connection Cable Art. 1280 in combination with
the expansion module 2040 Art. 1277.
1. Guide the connection cable
Valve Box V3 and attach to the terminal strip
according to the outputs of the watering controller
(refer to colour of cable).
2. Screw one cable from each valve into the connections C.
3. Screw the other cable from each valve into the connec-
tions 1 – 6 according to the routing of the cables.
4. If you are using 2 Valve Boxes of model V3, connect the
second Valve Box V3 to the first Valve Box V3 using the
connection cable.
5. Push the protective cap
and tighten both screws
Please refer to the operating instructions for the
Programming Unit Art. 1242 for instructions on how
to connect the Watering Valves Art. 1251 (9 V) to
the Controllers Art. 1250.
Locking the box lid [ Fig. A8 ]:

v Lock the box lid
by turning the closing lever
The lid is then protected when the lawn is mowed.

The box lid
can be locked to protect it against theft.

v Overlap the holes
in the Valve Box and box lid and
lock using a small padlock or locking chain
– or –
Alternatively, you can protect the lid
using a metal screw (4.2 x 19 mm).
