1 Overview
This manual applies to the 2498C/D optical power meter. The product is a hand-held instrument with a
novel structure and small size. This meter has built-in optical detecting component and rechargeable
battery, which is convenient to use and can be powered by a dry battery, and is more suitable for field
work.
It adopts high-quality high-speed photodiode as an optical detection device, which is controlled by a
single-chip microcomputer. This meter is characterized by strong functions, high reliability, high cost
performance, small size and beautiful appearance. It is suitable for construction and maintenance of
fiber optic communication objects. In addition, it is also an ideal optical power and optical loss measuring
instrument for scientific research, production, teaching and other fields. When high power testing is
required, a power meter with a measuring range of -50dBm to +26dBm is available.
The 2498C/D optical power meter has two power meter modules, and only one of them can be selected
at one time. Based on different optical source, it is divided into two types as shown in Table 1-1.

2 Product Compositions

3 Precautions
The 2498C/D power meter shall be reasonably used and carefully maintained, thus maintaining its
performance indicators for a long time and extending the service life. Please pay attention to the
following matters during use:
3.1 Power Adapter
Please use the special adapter provided by China Electronics Technology Instruments Co., Ltd., and
other adapters may cause damage to the optical power meter.
3.2 Internal lithium battery
1)
If the battery is placed for a long time, it is easy to enter the sleep state, resulting in lower capacity
value and shortening discharging time.
However, 2 to 3 normal charging and discharging cycles will activate the battery and restore its normal
capacity. Lithium batteries have almost no memory effect and can be charged at any time.
