The Turbidity Sensor
The machine has 2 automatic programs: Auto 65º and Auto BIO 50º.
During these programs a 'Turbidity sensor' is used to measure the clarity of the
water.
This is done by passing a beam of light through the water.
The beam of light produces a voltage which is measured and this measurement
decides the clarity of the water.
The first of these measurements is carried out during the Pre wash.
If the Pre-wash water is found to be dirty the machine will pump the water out at
the end of this phase. It will refill with clean water for the main wash.
If, however the Pre-wash water is found to be clean the machine will omit the
pump out at the end of the pre-wash and will use the same water for the main
wash.
This measurement also takes place during the first rinse.
If the water is found to be dirty, another rinse is added, however if the water is
clean only one rinse will be performed.
The Turbidity sensor is re-calibrated during the final rinse of each cycle.
Because engineers cannot test this part no values are given,
however, should the sensor fail a fault code of 'C5' will be stored in the fault code
memory.
It's unlikely that the customer will know if the Turbidity sensor is faulty as the
machine would always have a separate Pre-wash and main wash and would
always perform an extra rinse.
The sensor is found at the circulation pump end of the hose which feeds the
spray arm in the ceiling.
