BIO dishwashing programmes and low-alkaline compact
powders
On the basis of their chemical composition, dishwasher detergents can be
classified into two basic groups:
— conventional, alkaline detergents with caustic components;
— low-alkaline compact powders with natural enzymes.
The enzymes in low-alkaline compact powders have a dirt-dissolving effect and
are also more readily biodegradable. These enzymes deploy their full dirt dis-
solving power within a temperature range of 40-55 °C. In BIO washing pro-
grammes, the temperature range and duration of the heating phases are precisely
matched to the dirt-dissolving properties of the enzymes.
In combination with low-alkaline compact powders, BIO washing programmes,
at a temperature as low as 50 °C, therefore achieve the same cleaning results
that would otherwise be achievable only with 65 °C programmes.
On BIO programmes, the wash water is briefly heated to 60 °C to activate the
active oxygen.
The lack of any caustic components in low-alkaline compact powders and the
lower cleaning temperature of BIO washing programmes not only relieve the
environment, but also care for your crockery.
Detergent tablets
Detergent tablets of different manufacturers dissolve so slowly that they do not
release their full dishwashing power in short programmes (without pre-wash).
When using detergent tablets, you should therefore set normal programmes with
pre-wash wherever possible.
65 °C AUTO and 50 °C AUTO BIO dishwashing programmes
On the AUTOMATIC programmes, the turbidity of the dishwashing water is used
to determine how heavily your crockery is soiled. If your crockery is heavily soiled,
your dishwasher runs a pre-wash and 2 x intermediate rinse cycle. If your crockery
is only lightly soiled, your dishwasher runs only an intermediate rinse cycle with-
out pre-wash.
This ensures that your crockery is always optimally cleaned at a low water and
energy consumption.
