3.2 Installing the internal hard disk
unit
Up to five internal hard disk units can be installed in this product.
This section explains how to install/remove an internal hard disk unit.
When an array system is configured, replacing a faulty internal hard disk unit and adding an internal
hard disk unit (hot-plug) can be performed during operation.
For details, refer to the manual in the array controller document & tools CD.
• When installing the internal hard disk unit, do not damage or modify the inner cables or the devices.
Doing so may cause a product failure, fire, or electric shock.
• Before handling the internal hard disk unit, first touch the metal chassis to discharge static electricity.
• The installation or dismantlement not described in this chapter is out of warranty.
• Do not remove the internal hard disk unit when the system is operating.
• Do not touch the surface of the baseboard or soldered area. Hold a baseboard by its edges or the
metal plate.
• Do not handle the internal hard disk unit roughly. Doing so may damage the internal data.
- Do not drop or damage the internal hard disk unit.
- Do not knock the internal hard disk unit on another internal hard disk unit, or other things.
- Avoid the contact of metallic materials with the internal hard disk unit.
• Do not put anything on the internal hard disk unit.
• Do not use a cell phone nearby.
• Do not operate or store this product in the following environments.
- Areas near magnets or exposed to magnetic fields
- Areas in direct sunlight or near heat sources
- Areas that experience extreme temperature and humidity changes
- Dusty or humid areas
- Areas exposed to shocks or vibration
• Do not move an internal hard disk unit that has already been installed to another disk bay.
• When putting an internal hard disk unit on a desk, be careful about the following.
- Do not drop or tip the internal hard disk unit when placing it on the desk.
- Do not put the internal hard disk unit directly on metallic materials.
- Do not put internal hard disk units close to one another.
- Do not pile the internal hard disk unit on top of one another.
- Do not stand the internal hard disk unit on its side.
