b. Windows 2000/XP: Hover your mouse over the Brother printer icon. Below is an
example of what you may see:
Status: Ready (Could also state: USE PRINTER OFFLINE or PAUSED)
Documents: 0 (Could be any number)
4. If there are any documents waiting in the queue, right-click on the Brother printer and
select PURGE PRINT DOCUMENTS or CANCEL ALL DOCUMENTS depending on your
operating system. This should clear the queue.
5. If the status states: USE PRINTER OFFLINE, right-click on the Brother printer and uncheck
USE PRINTER OFFLINE or select USE PRINTER ONLINE depending on your operating
system. This should set the printer driver ONLINE.
6. If the status states: PAUSED, right-click on the Brother printer and uncheck PAUSE
PRINTING. This should allow the printer to resume printing.
PART 6: ATTEMPT A TEST PRINT
1. Right-click on your Brother machine and select PROPERTIES.
2. On the GENERAL TAB, click the PRINT TEST PAGE button. If the test page prints, then your
issue is resolved. If the test page does not print, close the PRINTER PROPERTIES window
and delete the job from the queue by completing PART 5, then continue to PART 7.
PART 7: VERIFY PRINTER PORT SETTINGS
1. Print the Network Configuration report:
a. On the Brother machine press MENU or MENU/SET
b. Scroll with the up or down arrow to (PRINT) REPORTS and press OK or MENU/SET.
c. Scroll with the up or down arrow to NETWORK CONFIG and press OK or MENU/SET.
d. Press (BLACK) START. A network configuration report will print. Locate the IP address
of your Brother machine on this list. It will be displayed as XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX.
2. Obtain the computer's IP Address:
WINDOWS 98/ME:
a. On the computer, click START -> RUN
b. Erase anything in the open box and type: WINIPCFG
c. Click OK. The IP Configuration window will open. (Ex. IP address 192.168.1.101 Sub
net mask 255.255.255.0 default Gateway 192.168.1.1) You should receive information
about your computer's network connection. Make a note of the IP Address. If you do
not receive an IP address, this indicates that there is a problem with your computer's
network connection. Try restarting the computer, and completing PART 7 again. If you
still do not receive an IP address contact your router manufacturer or network
administrator for support.
WINDOWS 2000/XP:
a. On the computer, click START -> RUN
b. Erase anything in the open box and type: COMMAND
c. Click OK. A command prompt window will open.
d. Type: IPCONFIG
e. Press ENTER on your keyboard. You should receive information about your computer's
network connection. (Ex. IP address 192.168.1.101 Sub net mask 255.255.255.0
default Gateway 192.168.1.1) Make a note of the IP Address. If you do not receive an
IP address, this indicates that there is a problem with your computer's network
connection. Try restarting the computer, and completing PART 7 again. If you still do
