tip of the bar. Make sure the saw chain is inside the guide groove of the guide bar.
5. Place the saw chain round the chain wheel and make sure it is correctly mounted. Then place the guide
bar with the saw chain on the guide bolt and chain tensioning bolt.
6. Place the guide bar cover on top and turn gently the adjusting knob to tension the saw chain first, then
tighten gently with the lock knob by hand.
Warning - never try to run the chainsaw without sprocket cover securely tightened.
Note-A new chain will stretch so adjust the tension after a few cuts. Watch saw chain tension
carefully for the first half hour of cutting.
Tensioning the saw chain
Caution: Proper saw chain tension is extremely important. If saw chain is too tight, the guide
bar and saw chain will be quickly damaged. If the saw chain is too loose, it may get out of the
guide bar groove and cause an injury.
WARNING - Always loosen lock knob before turning adjusting knob otherwise tension adjuster
will be damaged. Do not over-tighten lock knob.
Make sure the saw chain is inside the guide groove of the guide bar.
1.
2. Loosen the lock knob and turn the adjusting knob clockwise until the saw chain is correctly tensioned.
Do not tension the chain too tightly.
3. When cold, it should be possible to lift the chain in the middle of the guide bar approx. 5 mm(0.2inch).
Tighten the guide bar cover securely.
4. When warm, the saw chain will expand and slacken and there is a danger of it jumping off the rail
altogether. Re-tension if necessary. If the saw chain is re-tensioned when hot, it must be loosened again
when the sawing work has been completed. Otherwise, the contraction which takes place as the chain
cools would result in excessively high tension. A new saw chain requires a running-in period of approx.5
minutes. Chain lubrication is very important at this stage. After running in, check chain tension and
