INSPECTION:
Inspect reel for any signs of transit damage. Remember, you must initiate all claims with the delivering
carrier.

OPERATIONAL CHECK:
(a) Pull hose off drum at least one full revolution. A clicking noise should be heard from the locking
mechanism.
(b) Let the hose retract.
(c) Pull the hose off until the first click is heard. Drum should lock when the hose tension is removed.
(d) Continue pulling the hose, no more than one revolution, until no clicking is heard. Hose should
rewind when tension is removed.

SPRING TENSION ADJUSTMENT:
Reels are shipped with three winds of tension adequate for most applications. However, if your usage
requires either more or less initial tension, perform the following:
USE EXTREME CAUTION - MAKE SURE SPRING IS LOCKED
To adjust the spring tension, add or remove the wraps of the hose from the drum, one wrap at a time, until
the desired tension is obtained.
NOTE: INLET HOSE MUST BE DISCONNECTED TO PERMIT THE HOSE TO GO AROUND THE
DRUM

ROLLER BRACKET ADJUSTMENT:
All Coxreels are shipped with the roller bracket in the ceiling mount position. For either floor or wall
mount, simply remove the guide arm that is attached to the support frame and rotate it 90 degrees, then
reinstall.
5.
MOUNTING:
For ease of mounting, all base plates have 1/2" slots instead of holes. It is suggested that two sets of
hardware be inserted loosely on one end so that the base plate can be slipped into position and held on the
other end while securing.
MOUNTING PATTERNS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
•
All series "S", "MP", and "SH" reels in 12", 15", and 19" sizes have a mounting bolt pattern of 4" x 7".
•
All series "C", "T", and all reels having a drum dia. of 24" (regardless of series) have a mounting bolt
pattern of 7" x 8".
6.
INLET HOSE CONNECTION:
(a) Connect the inlet hose (not supplied) to the swivel joint on the reel. Then run the connecting hose to
the main supply source and connect.
CAUTION: If a flexible connector is not used on the inlet to the swivel, the warranty is void. Do not use solid
piping.
