Partition the server

About this task
NOTE:
This procedure can also be performed using the bsmSetPartitions.sh CLI. See the Remote Hardware
Management CLI Reference Guide for more information.
Steps
1. Connect to the SHC.
2. Start the SHC:
a. Launch the web browser and enter the standard or secure IP address or host name of the primary module, according to
the settings. The Authentication page opens.
b. Complete the Username and Password fields and click Log On. The System Control page opens.
3. Partition the server:
a. From the Configuration tab, click Global Settings > Partitioning to open the Platform Partitioning page.
b. Select the number of partitions required from the Partitions to create drop-down list.
c. Click Create Partition to display the New Partitioning dialog.
d. From the New Partitioning box, drag and drop the available server modules to the new partitions.
e. If required, change the Server Name value for the new partitions.
NOTE:
All the available server modules must be redistributed in the new partitions.
NOTE:
For each new partition, the server module with the lowest module number becomes the primary. Check that
the new primary is connected to the customer's LAN.
f. Click Apply.
g. Click OK in the confirmation dialog box to launch the partitioning, which may take a few minutes to complete. All the new
partitions will reboot.
h. After reboot, connect to the SHC.

From the Configuration tab, click Global Settings > Partitioning to open the Platform Partitioning page.
j.
Check the new platform partitioning.
k. Use the bsmBMCcfg.sh -a backup utility, provided in the Resource and Documentation ISO file, to back up system,
PEF, and configuration data if required.
4. Click the Logout button to stop the SHC.
