Diskette-Based Diagnostics

You can run the Dell Diagnostics from a hard-disk drive utility partition or from dis-

kettes. When using diskette-based diagnostics, observe the following precautions:

•

Ensure that the Dell Diagnostics diskette number 4 is not write protected.

•

Ensure that the Dell Diagnostics diskette number 4 remains in the drive

throughout the duration of the diagnostics testing.

Failure to take these precautions will cause the diagnostics to fail.

BIOS Version Requirements

Systems with the newer versions of the Intel

(700 MHz, 750 MHz, 800 MHz, or higher speeds) require a system setup program

BIOS A03 or a later version. If you download and flash an A01 or an A02 BIOS, your

system may not operate. To recover a system BIOS, see "Recovering the BIOS" in

your Dell PowerEdge 8450 Systems User's Guide.
