Dell PowerEdge 5160 Update Manual
NOTICE: Once you have upgraded to the most current version of either the BIOS or the
RAID controller firmware, do not downgrade to any earlier version, even to the versions
on the upgrade diskette. Downgrading to an earlier version of the BIOS or the RAID
controller firmware may cause other components to malfunction.
Disconnecting the RAID Battery
Before removing the original memory module, disconnect the RAID battery from the system board.
Leave the battery disconnected until you have installed the new memory module. For more informa-
tion on disconnecting the battery, see "Integrated RAID Controller" in the Dell PowerEdge 4400
Systems Service Manual, which is available at http://support.dell.com.
NOTICE: If you do not disconnect the battery, both the original and upgrade memory
modules may be permanently damaged.
Installing the RAID Memory Module
For detailed information about installing the memory module in this upgrade kit, see Activating the
PERC 3/Di, which is available at http://support.dell.com.
Storing the Original RAID Memory Module
To store the original RAID memory module, place it in the protective packaging shipped with the
upgrade kit. The packaging will protect against static discharge that could damage the memory
module.
