l
Flashing = Dump exists in RAM (volatile) memory
l
Solid = Dump exists in Flash (non-volatile) memory

Working with Dumps
Saving a "dump" of diagnostic data to drive memory may be helpful in diagnosing a problem. There are two memory locations that can be used to store a dump, RAM
memory and Flash memory. RAM memory is the default location for storing a dump. A dump in RAM will be overwritten when a new dump is taken. A dump in RAM
will be lost if the drive is power cycled. A dump can be copied from RAM to Flash by using the service functions. When a dump has been saved in Flash, the
diagnostic data is permanently saved and will not be lost during a power cycle. If there is a dump in RAM and Flash, the service mode fault light will give precedence to
the dump in RAM and the light will flash. To verify the permanent dump is saved, power cycle the drive. This will erase the dump in RAM. The fault light in service
mode will now be on solid, indicating a dump stored in Flash.
Executing Service Functions
Executing Service Function 1: Standalone diagnostics (self test)
Approximate run time: Less than 5 minutes
1. Ensure there is no cartridge in the drive.
Note:
If a cartridge is loaded in the drive, depression of the Unload button is interpreted as an unload request and the drive will ignore the second and third
depressions. The drive cannot be put into Service mode while a cartridge is loaded. The test can be aborted by pressing the eject button.
2. Press and hold the Unload button until the Ready LED begins flashing rapidly indicating Service Function 1 has been accessed. The status LEDs will be in one of
the following states.
