Defrosting
Refrigerator section

Automatic defrosting ensures that the refrigerator section is
always free of ice. The water formed as the ice thaws collects
in the evaporator reservoir where it is evaporated automati-
cally.
Make sure that the drain opening in the rear wall of the refri-
gerator does not become blocked, so that the water con-
densate can drain off. If the opening becomes blocked, free it
with a sharp instrument (fig.
A).
~-freezer
section
The
~-freezer
section is not automatically defrosted,
since there must be no risk of frozen food thawing out. As are
-
sult, a layer of frost or ice may form inside the compartment
after a lenghty period of operation. If this layer becomes too
thick it will increase energy consumption.
For this reason, the frost layer should be removed at intervals
with a plastic scraper.
Do not use metal tools as they might damage the
appliance.
If an ice layer has formed, the
~-freezer
section must be
defrosted completely and cleaned
.
Wrap the frozen food in
newspaper or blankets and keep
it
in a cool place until the
compartment has been defrosted.
Switch off the freezer section by pressing the on/off button®
(fig.
B).
Defrosting can be speeded up by placing a saucepan
of hot but not boiling water inside the compartment.
Never use an electric heating appliance to defrost
the appliance.
Leave the door of the appliance open during defrosting. Mop
up water caused by the ice melting with a cloth or sponge,
and clean out the compartment (fig.
B).
Cleaning
Always disconnect the mains plug or else unscrew
or remove the fuses.
Regular cleaning is recommended, since food scraps can
cause unpleasant odours. Wash out the interior with luke-
warm water to which a small quantity of detergent can be
added. Rinse down with clean water and dry thoroughly with
a cloth
.
Never use abrasive cleansers.
