• Never put down the power tool before it has come
to a complete stop.
• A rotating tool may come into contact with the
surface on which it is resting and you may lose
control of the tool.
• Do not move the power tool while in motion.
Accidental contact of the tool with clothing may
cause it to be pulled in and the tool may be drawn to
the operator's body.
• Do not use the power tool near flammable materials.
Sparks can ignite these materials.
• The ventilation openings of the power tool should
be cleaned regularly. Dust entering the machine can
block the ventilation space, leading to engine
overheating.
• Do not use the tool with a damaged cable. A
damaged cable increases the risk of electric shock.
• Always use a dust extraction system. Inhalation of
dust is harmful to health.
Recoil and associated warnings
• Recoil is the sudden reaction when a rotating
sanding disc or other accessories become jammed
or chipped. Jamming or chipping causes the rotating
component to stop suddenly, which in turn leads to
uncontrolled recoil of the power tool at the point of
jamming in the direction opposite to the direction of
rotation of the component.
• If the sanding disc becomes chipped or jammed in
the workpiece, friction against the surface of the
material and its leading edge can push the sanding
disc upwards or cause it to recoil. The abrasive disc
may spring back towards the operator or in the
opposite direction depending on the direction of
rotation at the jamming point. Abrasive discs can
also break under these conditions.
• Recoil is the result of improper use of the power tool
and/or incorrect operating procedures
EN
or conditions and can be avoided by taking the
appropriate precautions as outlined below:
• The power tool should be gripped firmly and the
body and arms should be placed in a position to
soften the recoil.
• Always use the auxiliary handle, if provided, to ensure
maximum control of the machine during start-up
and operation. The operator can control the torque
response or recoil force if he takes appropriate
precautions.
• Never place your hands near rotating parts. The tool
may injure the hand due to recoil.
• Do not position your body in an area where the
power tool may move due to recoil. The recoil will
eject the tool in the direction opposite to the
direction of rotation of the component.
• Take special care when working in corners, on sharp
edges, etc. Avoid bouncing and jamming of parts.
Corners, sharp edges tend to jam rotating parts and
cause loss of tool control or recoil.
Safety warnings specific to grinding operations:
• Do not use an oversized abrasive disc. When
choosing sandpaper, follow the manufacturers'
recommendations. A larger abrasive disc protruding
beyond the sanding pad poses a risk of injury and
may cause the disc to snag, tear or recoil.
• Hold the power tool by the insulated surfaces of the
handle as it may come into contact with the cable.
Cutting a live wire can cause metal parts of the power
tool to be live as well, which can result in an electric
shock to the operator.
