POWERED AIR PURIFYING RESPIRATOR

2-10. Checking The Respirator Before Use

Before using the respirator,

check the following items:

Air Filter Assembly

Verify the air filter is suitable

for the application and is

NIOSH-approved. Also be

sure the filter is undam-

aged, properly assembled,

and securely connected to

the blower assembly.

Breathing Tube

Be sure the tube is undam-

aged and properly con-

nected to the blower as-

sembly and hood.

Battery

Verify the battery is fully

charged and securely con-

nected to the blower as-

sembly.

Air Flow (Not Shown)

Test air flow according to

Section 2-7.

Air flow Alarm

Turn on blower assembly

and check for audible, visu-

al, and vibratory alarms

(see Sections 2-6 and 2-8).

See Troubleshooting sec-

tion if alarms go on at any

other time (Section 2-13).

Hood

Inspect the hood and re-

place if damaged. See

Troubleshooting (Section

2-13) if air is not being sup-

plied to hood.
