HP 316095-B21 - StorageWorks Edge Switch 2/24 Release Note
Description
An OSMS (Open Systems Management Server) memory
leak caused ISL Segmentation in the fabric
Director 2/64 had Event 411 Firmware Faults occurring
on both CTPs due to stalled CTP communications.
Director 2/64 had CTP Event 411 (00000052) faults
occurring on both CTP's due to issue reading certain SPF
parameters.
In a FICON environment, lone Unit check status was
presented after Command Response was sent.
Command line interface (CLI) SSH connections timed out
too frequently
Power On Monitoring (POM) feature changed to disable
POM by default and provide CLI commands to enable
and disable POM support.
Enhancements
This section describes enhancements in this release since the release of firmware version 09.07.02.
Frame Redirection
Frame Redirection (FR) is now supported on M-series switches to enable the use of advanced features
like Brocade's Storage Application Services in mixed M-series and B-series switch environments. FR
enables customers to easily utilize these capabilities by simply configuring special FR zones, which
requires no changes to attached hosts or devices. Firmware 09.08.xx and later supports FR zones in
McDATA Fabric Mode only when used with B-series switches in Interopmode 2.
Predictive Optics Monitoring (POM)
In firmware 09.08.xx or later , the predictive optics monitoring feature is turned off (disabled) by
default. Consequently, while upgrading from firmware 09.07.xx or earlier to 09.08.xx or later, POM
will be in disabled state by default. It can be enabled/disabled using the following new command:
perf AFD POM <enabledstate>
Example: perf AFD POM enable turns the feature ON.
When POM is disabled, it will not take any action on the affected port, including the posting of events
515/516 in event log. In Embedded Web Server, the health status will show noinfo and the optics
parameters cannot be read. In the CLI, the health status of the optic will show noinfo but the parameter
values can be read.
When the POM feature is enabled and any optic is generating a Tx power/Bias Current alarm
condition, the switch logs an event 516 and event 514 and fail the port after 2 hours. For other optics
parameters (Rx Power, Supply Voltage, Temp), the system will log event 516 but will not fail the port.
