Calibration is very important for optimum Temperature Controlled Vaping results. The
calibration determines the coil resistance at ambient temperature (20°C). The
resistance in combination with the wire material's temperature coefficient enables
the device to accurately calculate the coil's temperature during operation.
It is extremely important to understand that if calibration is performed at a
temperature other than 20°C, the temperature will have an offset deviation. Similarly,
if a wrong temperature coefficient is selected, the actual temperature can deviate
dramatically from the set-point (since the coefficient is a multiplying factor and not a
simple offset).
CalibrTemp should be run whenever a new atomizer is attached—even if it is made
from the same material as the previous coil. There is a confirmation step "Confirm" in
to avoid accidental calibration—the user will need to click the button to continue
with the calibration. After confirmation the display will read "process" until
calibration is completed.
The Extreme V2 also offers the option to activate an automatic calibration. To enable
automatic calibration this menu item needs to be set to 1. The automatic calibration
is always performed when the mod is switched on and just before the first puff, or if
the mod is already on, when the atomizer is changed. If OnClick is set to 0 for immediate
vaping, the calibration delays the puff by about 0.1 second.
The 2380 can work with one or two batteries. In Stack Control (Stack Ctrl) the user can
select automatic detection (0) of the numbers of batteries, or manually select one or two
batteries. The number of batteries inserted is determined through a measurement of
total voltage. Manually setting 1 or 2 adds a safety margin for the system since it's a user
might insert two discharged batteries both at 2.2V—so the total voltage is 4.4V—which is
within the permitted range for one battery but not for two batteries. Discharging 2380
batteries below 2.2V will destroy them.
The 2380 can be used in 5 different modes. 3 of the 5 modes are only available when
Expert-Mode is set to 1.
Here is an overview of all of the modes:
- Standard:
- Temperature Control: The power applied to the coil is calculated by a temperature
- Power Boost:
- Heater Protection:
- Bypass:
Vaping with a constant power setting. The selected power is
applied to the coil, unless the coil's resistance affords a different
power setting.
controller which keeps the coil's temperature constant. NOTE:
Be sure to set the correct temperature coefficient and perform a
calibration at room temp.
The coil is quickly heated up initially. Moreover, a repetitive
boost can be selected. NOTE: DO not set the power limit to a
high value. It's best to use a lower than normal power setting.
The power to the coil is repeatedly interrupted to enable
liquid flow and limit the temperature.
The mod behaves like a mechanical mod, i.e. the battery
voltage is applied directly to the coil. The maximum current is
limited 15A. Note that the vape now depends on the power
level in the battery, and the coil resistance should not be very
low as the 15A limit would be easily exceeded.
